H. Jürgen Lenz, MD, PhD
Dr. Lenz believes that many gastrointestinal and liver diseases can be prevented or positively influenced by a healthy life style: a healthy diet, exercise and stress reduction.

Dr. Lenz believes that the real art of medicine lies in making the correct diagnosis with the least invasive and smallest number of tests and treatment should be as natural as possible.

Dr. Lenz believes in social justice and therefore he regularly sees patients in his office from clinics that serve patients without health insurance.
Dr. Lenz has many years of experience in both the academic and private practice settings practicing routine endoscopy and colonoscopy as well as more advanced endoscopic procedures, liver biopsy and abdominal ultrasonography.

Dr. Lenz is a founding member (1992) of the La Jolla Gastroenterology Medical Group and the La Jolla Endoscopy Center. His practice is solely dedicated to the Scripps Memorial Hospital and the Scripps/Ximed Medical Center campus. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCSD School of Medicine and an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University of Hamburg, Germany.
